💼 [Main Responsibilities]

At Vigloo, we’re building a new kind of short-form storytelling experience, bold, fast-moving, and made for the vertical screen. We are looking for a Creative Executive who is responsible for driving the creative direction, story quality, and strategic development of Vigloo’s content slate. This role focuses exclusively on idea evaluation, story development, writer collaboration, and aligning creative output with audience insights and business goals. The Creative Executive partners closely with in-house producer and marketing teams.

Creative Strategy & Ideation

  • Identify compelling concepts, genres, and story opportunities based on market research, audience data, and platform trends.
  • Evaluate pitches, concepts, outlines, and scripts to determine viability, engagement potential, and fit within Vigloo’s creative strategy.
  • Maintain an active pipeline of fresh story ideas that support slate diversity and meet business goals.
  • Work with leadership to define creative priorities, thematic focus areas, and new formats for exploration.

Story & Script Development

  • Give detailed and actionable notes on loglines, outlines, beat sheets, and scripts to ensure clarity, pacing, character depth, and retention strength.
  • Collaborate closely with writers and Producers to elevate narrative structure and emotional impact.
  • Guide projects through the full development lifecycle — from initial concept to final production-ready script — ensuring creative alignment at each step.
  • Ensure all projects reach production-ready creative standards before handoff.

Localization Strategy & Creative Adaptation

  • Develop localization guidelines that adapt story, tone, and cultural references for global and regional audiences.
  • Evaluate concepts and scripts for cross-market potential, identifying opportunities for cultural adaptation without losing story intent.
  • Collaborate with localization teams to ensure translations maintain narrative clarity, emotional impact, and brand voice.
  • Incorporate regional audience data and platform insights to inform localization decisions and international content strategy.

Cross-Functional Creative Alignment

  • Work with Marketing, Audience Insights, and Strategy teams to integrate data-driven insights into creative decisions.
  • Clearly communicate creative intent, themes, and direction to downstream teams without overseeing execution.
  • Support evaluation of external pitches, partnerships, or IP opportunities from a creative perspective.

Creative Standards & Team Development

  • Document and evolve creative guidelines, writing frameworks, and storytelling best practices.
  • Mentor writers and junior development staff to strengthen overall creative output.
  • Stay current on competitive landscapes, narrative trends, and platform behavior to inform future development.

📌 [Qualifications]

  • Bachelor’s degree in History, English, Fine Arts, Screenwriting, or a related field or equivalent hands-on experience of working with professional screenwriter —ideally within vertical or mobile-first formats.
  • Strong creative writing skills with a focus on romance and drama genres.
  • Proven ability to stay composed under pressure, paired with strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Flexibility to work effectively across multiple time zones.
  • Excellent communication and leadership capabilities, with experience guiding cross-functional teams.
  • Strong interest in reading novels and staying engaged with narrative storytelling.
  • In-depth knowledge of the online reading or publishing industry, including both historical and current trends.
  • Deep understanding of audience behavior and digital-first storytelling, with a sharp sense of what resonates and performs on platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.
  • Able to work on-site at the office when required.
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States, including valid work-eligible visa status.

[Preferred Qualifications]

  • Proficiency in Mandarin or Korean is a plus, as is experience in startups or high-growth media companies.

🌱 [What We Offer]

  • Competitive Compensation: Highly competitive base salary range of $80,000 - $160,000 USD annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
  • Benefits: Comprehensive Health, Dental, and Vision insurance.
  • Time Off: 15 days of annual PTO (inclusive of Sick Leave) with a cash-out option for unused days.
  • Key Early Member: Opportunity to play a critical role in building and shaping the US branch from the ground up, directly influencing our creative direction.
